I wrote to Mons. Pavel Konzbul, Bishop of Brno, regarding a request to join the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi.
Dear Monsignor Konzbul,
I am seriously interested in joining the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi in Brno. I should mention that I was born a Catholic, but I became a Hindu monk under Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda of India. I have a question as to whether I would be eligible to become a member of the Third Order of St. Francis under these circumstances. I do not, of course, attend your services or go to confession, nor do I perform any other formal Catholic spiritual activity. Indeed, I am a Hindu and a yogi in heart and soul, and I perform my conscientious duties and spiritual sadhana according to this religion. So I have a question whether the Capuchins of Brno would accept me among them into the Third Order under these circumstances, especially for symbolic and mystical reasons, since I have felt myself to be an inner disciple of St. Francis of Assisi for many decades. I would like to combine these two religions in my heart without ceasing to be a yogi and a Hindu. I appreciate your response. I am from Brno and I live as a hermit in the Moravian Karst.
